Dial-Up Internet Access
Even in the world of high speed access to the Internet, you sometimes need another option. If you're unable to get DSL, the cable company won't reach to your end of the woods, and you can't pick up a wireless signal—the U.P. Web Maestro can provide you with dial-up access for $14.95 per month. We have local access numbers in almost all areas of the Upper Peninsula.
Once your account is activated, any of the location numbers can be used to gain access to the Internet. So, if you're travelling, simply change the access number in your dialer software. When new locations open that widen our coverage, existing accounts autmatically have access there.
We set up each account manually, and will have yours set up within 12 hours of the time you place your order. If you have a special username you'd like us to use, please contact us at the time you place your order and let us know.
While connected through your dial-up account, you can use email clients like Thunderbird, Eudora or Outlook. To configure your client, use your email address as your username, and the password that you are provided when your account is set up. Then just set your POP Server or Incoming Mail Server to mail.maildivision.com and your SMTP Server or Outgoing Mail Server to smtp.maildivision.com.
You may also access your email account through webmail. You can log in through any Web browser by going to http://webmail.maildivision.com.
PLEASE NOTE: dial-up webmail is different from the webmail options available if you subscribe to our hosting services.
The Fine Print
Though we provide a list of access numbers through our site, some numbers change over time. It is up to you to confirm that a number is local rather than long-distance prior to using it. (The easiest way to test a number is to dial it from a phone without the area code. If it's local, you'll hear the modem noises, if it's not, you'll hear the automated operator message stating that you need to use the area code.)
Signing up for a dial-up account assumes your agreement and acceptance of our service contract.
If you need to cancel your existing dial-up account (and we'd hate to see you go!) you can cancel online or contact us with your request.
