Free Software!
We'd like to officially recommend Mozilla's Firefox for browsing the Web. Not only is it free, it's fast and secure, and runs laps around Internet Explorer. There's also many very useful and fun addons and themes you can download to customize your browser.
If you like the way Outlook handles your email—at least how it's supposed to handle it—but are frustrated with viruses and errors, you may want to consider Thunderbird as an alternative. There's also addons and themes for Thunderbird.
If you're tired of finding out your upgraded version of Windows is broken (again) there's a completely free replacement to the whole Office suite of software that includes word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. Try OpenOffice.org and save some $$$!
